OU earns spot on Phi Theta Kappa honor roll for supporting transfer students

A new transfer articulation agreement will help qualified students in the Associate of Applied Science in Education: Early Childhood Studies program at Macomb Community College transition to 十大菠菜台子 to complete a Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. 

After completion of the Associate of Applied Science in Education: Early Childhood Studies and the Michigan Transfer Agreement at Macomb, students will have only 57 credits to complete at 奥克兰 to earn their Bachelor of Science in Early Childhood Education. 

“Michigan has taken the lead in recognizing the importance of Early Childhood Education programs to support young children and families during a critical developmental period,朱莉·瑞克斯-多宁说, associate professor of Human Development and Child Studies at 奥克兰. “值得注意的是, this degree program blends early childhood and special education in the preparation of the birth to pre-kindergarten teacher workforce and addresses teacher shortages in early childhood, early intervention and early childhood special education.” 

In recognition of the strong quality of their early childhood education preparation, students will be waived from the following six courses at 奥克兰 upon completion of the associate degree at Macomb: 

  • EC 3331 Child Development Birth to Age 8: Typical and Atypical
  • EC 3333 Infant and Toddler Development and Programs 
  • 教育概论
  • EED 2000 Teaching, Learning, and Schools
  • MTE 2111 Mathematics for Elementary Education II
  • RDG 2200 Literature of Children

“十大菠菜台子 and Macomb Community College have always had a great partnership focused on student success,谢恩·刘易斯说, OU’s director of 本科招生. “This transfer agreement expands that partnership, providing more MCC students with a seamless transition to OU, saving them money and reducing their time to degree.”

The agreement is effective through July 31, 2029.

十大菠菜台子 also offers the Transfer Admission Guarantee (TAG) to Macomb Community College transfer students. This means easier access for the region’s state college students, many of whom are the first generation in their families to seek higher education. In addition, OU offers the following scholarships for community college transfer students:

Presidential Transfer Award: $10,000 for two years ($5,000 per year)

Awarded to new transfer students from a Michigan community college with a GPA of 3.80 or higher and 56 or more transferable credits. Note that 56 transferable credits must be earned by the scholarship deadline. 

Phi Theta Kappa Award: $5,000 for two years ($2,500 per year)

Awarded to new community college transfer students with a GPA of 3.80 or above and 24-55 transferable credits, OR with a GPA of 3.50-3.79 and 24 or more transferable credits. Also awarded to new transfer students from a four-year college or university with a GPA of 3.50 or higher and 24 or more transferable credits. Note that 24 transferable credits must be earned by the scholarship deadline.

Talented Transfer Award: $2,000 for two years ($1,000 per year)

Awarded to new transfer students with a college GPA of 3.0-3.49 and 24 or more transferable credits. Note that 24 transferable credits must be earned by the scholarship deadline.

OU Transfer Grant: $4,000 for two years ($2,000 per year)

十大菠菜台子 offers the OU Transfer Grant to incoming transfer students with demonstrated financial need. This grant is awarded to new transfer students with an estimated family contribution (EFC) of $0 (as determined by completion of the FAFSA), and 24 or more transferable credits. Eligible incoming transfer students will automatically be considered for this need-based grant.
